Terms of Service & Testing Policies

1. Services & Scope

VO2 Max Orange County (located inside Lebel Bicycles in San Juan Capistrano, CA) provides physiological performance assessments, including VO2 Max gas analysis, blood lactate threshold mapping, and resting metabolic rate (RMR) testing.

2. Physical Readiness & Medical Disclaimer

Maximal Physical Exertion: Physiological testing requires progressive exercise to voluntary exhaustion. You will be pushing your cardiorespiratory system to capacity.

Not Medical Care: Our assessments are intended for athletic conditioning, training zone calibration, and personal fitness evaluation. They do not constitute clinical cardiac stress testing, medical diagnosis, or medical treatment.

Participant Health: You confirm that you are in good physical health and have no medical conditions that make vigorous exertion hazardous. If you have cardiovascular risk factors or a sedentary background, you must obtain medical clearance from your physician prior to testing.

Test Termination: You may end your test at any point. Additionally, our technicians maintain the authority to stop any test immediately if signs of undue distress or abnormal physiological responses occur.

3. Booking, Cancellations & Rescheduling

24-Hour Notice: Each session reserves dedicated equipment and 45 to 90 minutes of one-on-one technician time. Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling.

Late Cancellations & No-Shows: Cancellations made under 24 hours are subject to a 50% fee. No-shows forfeit the full session fee.

Illness Policy: Never test when experiencing fever, respiratory infection, or acute illness. Sickness invalidates metabolic data. Notify us as soon as symptoms appear, and we will reschedule you at no additional charge once you have recovered.

4. Equipment & Safety Standards

Personal Bicycles: If testing on your own bicycle, please ensure it is clean, mechanically sound, and properly maintained for direct-drive smart trainers.

Sterile Sampling: Blood lactate tests use sterile, single-use medical safety lancets opened in your presence and disposed of immediately in an OSHA-compliant sharps container. Participants voluntarily assume standard risks of strenuous exercise on stationary equipment.

5. Fees & Payment Terms

Testing fees ($195 for VO2 Max; $295 for VO2 Max + Lactate) are payable at booking or prior to testing. Fees are non-refundable once testing begins. If an equipment malfunction interrupts data collection, a complimentary re-test will be scheduled.
